VR holiday cottages

VR members may apply for holiday cottages in various locations in Iceland (more information, in Icelandic only). Only fully qualified members can book a holiday cottage. VR holiday cottages can be booked up to 36 weeks in advance. Bookings are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Bookings must be for a duration of at least two days and a maximum of 10 days at a time. Weekends are leased as a whole, from Friday to Sunday. In order to book a cottage on the Internet, the rent must be paid by credit card.

  • Pets are allowed in one VR holiday cottage in Flúdir, house No. 29 as of 1 June 2010. This arrangement will be on a trial basis for one year.
  • Rent for holiday cottages booked online must be paid in advance. If the booking is cancelled within the period specified in the rental contract, the rent will be refunded, less ISK 3,000.
  • An amendment fee of ISK 2,000 is charged for all changes made to bookings after they have been paid.
  • Bookings must be for a minimum of 2 days and a maximum of 10 days each time. Weekends are leased from Friday to Sunday.
  • The rent is not refunded retrospectively if the holiday cottage has not been utilised during the rental period.
  • Holiday cottages are not rented to members younger than 20 and the age limit is based on the year in which they turn 21.

Camping and fishing cards

VR members are entitled to online purchase of the camping card and/or the fishing card. The camping card costs ISK 6,900 and the fishing card costs ISK 3,500. The cards can be purchased at VR’s offices or online. For online purchase of the cards, please seek the assistance of the VR service center. telæ. 510 1700. Note that each member can only purchase one card of each type and that the card will be registered in his or her name.

Rules of conduct

Please note the following rules of conduct in VR holiday cottages:

  1. The cottage is rented with furniture, kitchenware and other fittings.
  2. The lessee is responsible for all the contents of the cottage during the rental period and undertakes to pay compensation for any damage that may be caused by him/her or those who reside in the cottage with his/her permission during the rental period.
  3. The lessee must treat the cottage and its surroundings in a proper manner, clean the cottage on departure and make sure that all items are in their proper places.
  4. The lessee must arrive for his/her stay in the cottage on the change date (further information in the notes).
  5. The lessee must provide towels, soap, tea towels and bedding (duvet covers, sheets and pillowcases).
  6. Guests are requested to refrain from being excessively noisy when they use cars in the summer cottage area.
  7. The lessee must conduct himself/herself properly in the area and take care not to damage vegetation or the land in any manner.
  8. No pets are allowed in the cottages.
  9. Read and follow the instructions which are provided in the cottage.
