Board elects Deputy Chair and Secretary
At the first meeting of the VR Board following the recent leadership elections, a vote was held for the positions of Deputy Chair and Secretary. At the Board meeting on April 2, Ólafur Reimar Gunnarsson was elected Deputy Chair and Kristjana Þorbjörg Jónsdóttir Secretary. Both have served on the board for several years. Halla Gunnarsdóttir was elected Leader in the March elections.
Five new individuals joined the union’s Board in the elections — three on the main Board and two as alternates. There is a wide age range among Board members: the youngest was born in 2003 and is the union‘s first Board member born in this century. The oldest Board member turned seventy last year. The Board and alternate Board now consist of ten women and eight men.
