According to Article 20 of VR’s bylaws, the union’s Election Committee announces a call for individual candidacies for the positions of Chairman and Board members, as well as lists for the Consultative Council.
The deadline for submitting candidacies is 12:00 noon on Monday, 3 February.
This includes individual candidacies for Chairman, seven seats on the Board, and three alternate Board positions. Written endorsements from 50 VR members are required for a candidacy for Chairman, and 15 VR members are required for a candidacy for Board or alternate Board positions. Please note that the term of office for Chairman and principal Board members is now four years instead of two, and the term for alternate Board members is now two years instead of one.
To legally submit a list for the Consultative Council opposing the list proposed by VR’s Nomination Committee, written endorsements from 300 VR members are required, along with the written consent of all candidates on the list.According to VR’s bylaws, an individual cannot simultaneously appear on a slate for the Consultative Council and run for Chairman or Board member.

Candidacies and lists must be submitted to the Election Committee at the VR office in Hús verslunarinnar, Kringlan 7.
