Experience in community engagement

I have diverse experience in community engagement. When I did my vocational training, I was active in the wage term negotiations for apprentices, both with my colleagues in the apprentice union and also at my workplace. After my vocational training, I continued to participate in wage issues with the Icelandic Meat Processor’s Association for several years. I have also been active within sports associations as a volunteer and sat on the Board of Breiðablik’s athletics department, chaired the Icelandic Athletics Association for two years and have sat on the board of Breiðablik. I have also spent considerable time being involved in municipal issues. There, I have had the opportunity to become familiar with various committee jobs for Kópavogur municipality. First and foremost, I have been a member of the Kópavogur Social Affairs Committee, and later, the Kópavogur Welfare Committee, as well as taking a seat as an alternate in the Kópavogur Town Council and the Kópavogur Municipal Council. I have served on the Board of VR as a member from 2018–2021 and served as an alternate from 2021–2022. I have also participated in various committee activities for VR.
