Various information due to COVID-19

In light of the economic impact of COVID-19, the pension fund will grant a temporary grace period on loan payments from fund-members who have temporary payment difficulties. In such cases, the fund will authorize a grace period of up to six months. In such cases loan payments will be frozen and added to the principal which means that payments will increase after the end of the grace period.

For fund members who have payment difficulties they offer a temporary suspension of loan repayments with modifications of the loan terms. This can be done electronically between Birta pension fund and the fund members but must eventually be done on paper for confirmation at the sheriff’s office (sýslumaður).
