Do you want to make an impact? Join VR‘s Youth Council

VR is looking for young people to join the union´s Youth Council, but elections to the council will be held in May. The Youth Council consists of six VR members from the age of 18 to 35. The Board of VR appoints three, but members elect three others. We are looking for candidates but deadline for candidacy is to 16 May.

The role of VR's Youth Council is to ensure that the interests of younger members are always on the agenda and to provide young members with an opportunity to have an impact. The deadline to run for the three vacant seats expires at noon on 16 May, but the elections will be held 21 May til 24 May.

Representatives of the Youth Council have a seat on VR's Consultative Council, they get the opportunity to participate in the congresses of ASÍ and LÍV (The Icelandic Confederation of Labour and The Commercial Federation of Iceland) and shall advise the VR Board on issues related to young members. The Youth Council receives committee fees for scheduled meetings.

If young people do not make themselves heard, others make decisions for them. We encourage young member to take part in shaping their own future in the labor market and run for the VR Youth Council.
