Experience in Union Work

Over the past year, I have served on the VR board, first as an alternate and now as a full board member. I sit on several committees within VR and currently chair the Future Committee. At the most recent congress of the Commercial Federation of Iceland (LÍV), I was elected to the board of the federation for a two-year term.

Since 2015, I have been a member of VR's Consultative Council. I’ve served on the board of ASÍ-Youth, both as a board member and vice-chair. I also helped establish VR’s Youth Council and have sat on various ASÍ committees. I currently serve on the ASÍ Equality Committee on behalf of LÍV.
I am also the chair of the parents’ association for preschools in Hveragerði and a member of the parent council at the preschool Óskaland.

Key Focus Areas

I am seeking re-election to the VR board because I want to continue defending the interests of union members and delivering real results. With a decade of experience in the Consultative Council and board membership, I understand the daily reality in workplaces and how the union’s decisions impact people’s lives.
As I’ve said before, I represent the average VR member – middle-aged and earning around the average wage.

My focus is on ensuring that collective agreements provide genuine purchasing power, and that wages cover housing and basic living costs. VR must be a strong and visible force in matters of living standards and housing, defend rights in a changing labour market, and support ongoing education and training.
We should not only respond to changes – we must shape the future with our members at the centre.
