Employers pay 1% of employees’ wages to the Sick Pay fund. These funds form the VR Sick Pay fund and its function is to provide members with financial aid in the cases of illness, accidents and deaths as well as old age and disability cases. The fund also works towards preventive measures with regards to the safety and health of members.
Working VR members who deal with illness are entitled to payments from the employer for a specific amount of time according to wage agreements. If an illness lasts longer than this sickness right, they can apply for per diem payments from the VR Sick Pay fund after the employers’ payment obligation expires.
Members can apply to the VR Sick Pay fund for sickness per diem payments, accident benefits, death benefits and other grants.
Sickness per diem payments
The VR Sick Pay fund provides sickness per diem payments after the expiration of wage income in the case of a VR member becoming unable to work due to sickness or accidents (with the exception of accidents due to motorized vehicles).
