Winter allocation rules for holiday houses

The allocation of VR Holiday Homes for Winter 2026–2027

  • The allocation of VR holiday homes for the winter season 2026–2027 will proceed as follows:
  • VR members log into Mínar síður (My Pages) and select three holiday home options, ranked in first, second, and third choice, according to their preferences.
  • The maximum rental period during the winter is 12 nights per member.
  • A randomized allocation system will draw members to receive a holiday home. Those selected will be notified by email once the allocation is complete.
  • Any remaining availability after the draw will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Holiday homes are rented by the week.
  • Outside of the defined allocation periods, it is possible to rent homes for shorter stays without going through the draw system.

Important Dates for winter allocation:

  • March 5 – Applications open.
  • March 15 – Applications close.
  • It does not matter when you apply during this period—all applicants have an equal chance in the draw.
  • March 16 – Randomized draw takes place via the allocation system.
  • Members who are allocated a home will receive an email notification.
  • March 22 – Deadline to confirm and pay for the rental through Mínar síður (My Pages)
  • On March 26 at 10:00 AM, remaining holiday homes for the entire winter season (August 19, 2026 – June 9, 2027) become available. At this stage, bookings are first-come, first-served. Minimum rental: 2 days. Weekends are booked from Friday to Monday.
