Allocation of VR Holiday Houses in Winter
Applications for holiday houses for the winter 2025-2026 are now open and will remain open until 30 April.
For the first time, VR holiday houses will be allocated for winter rentals in the 2025–2026 season during specific periods. The houses are rented out for one week at a time, starting on a Thursday. Outside these periods, it is possible to rent the houses for shorter stays without allocation.
The holiday houses will be allocated during the following periods:
- School winter breaks: October 23–30, 2025, and February 19–26, 2026.
- Christmas 2025
- New Year's 2025–2026
- Easter 2026
- Ski season in Akureyri from January 1 to April 30, 2026 (holiday houses in Hálönd and Skipagata).
All full members can apply for holiday home allocation during these periods, regardless of whether they have rented a holiday home in previous winters or not.
Application Period
Applications for holiday houses during the above-mentioned periods opened today on April 14 and close on April 30. The allocation process will take place on May 2, and members will have until May 12 to complete payment via "My Pages" on the VR website. The allocation system randomly selects members, who will receive an email notification once the process is completed.
General Applications
On May 19 at 10:00, applications for holiday houses throughout the entire winter period, from August 28, 2025, to May 28, 2026, will open. The "first come, first served" rule will apply. The minimum rental period will be two days, and weekends will be rented from Friday to Monday.
