Labor Dispute of Leiðsögn Referred to State Mediator

This morning, 12 June 2024, the labor dispute between Leiðsögn – Tourist Guide Union, and the Confederation of Icelandic Enterprise (SA) / The Icelandic Travel Industry Association (SAF) was referred to the state mediator. The negotiating committee, consisting of representatives from Leiðsögn and VR, believes it is evident that the negotiations cannot progress further and that the assistance of the state mediator is needed.

VR's involvement in the labor dispute and negotiations between Leiðsögn and SA/SAF is based on a cooperation agreement between the two unions, signed earlier this month, which aims for the merger of the unions pending approval at their general meetings next spring.
