VR lends holiday homes to residents of Grindavík

The government approached VR and other trade unions to lend holiday homes and apartments to the residents of Grindavík who had to evacuate the town this weekend due to sesmic activity and the possibility of an eruption. VR has already offered several houses and is ready to offer more, if needed. Those VR members who have rented the houses in question will be asked to waive the rent in light of the situation.

We hope that members will understand, and we believe it is extremely important that unions and other organizations that are able to, assist the residents of Grindavík as much as possible.
