The Nordic Capital Conference for Commercial Unions

The Nordic Captial Conference for Commercial Unions finished today, on Thursday, June 8th. The conference is an annual event which rotates between Nordic capitals and this year it was VR‘s turn to host. Approximately 25 delegates from commercial unions in Helsinki, Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm attended the conference in Reykjavík and visited VR‘s offices during the two-day event. Dagur B. Eggertsson, the Mayor of Reykjavik, opened the conference yesterday, Wednesday June 7th.

The conference proceedings consisted in a variety of presentations and discussions on matters of current interest. Among the topics discussed were: inflation and the role it currently plays in the negotiation of collective wage agreements, AI and its potential effects on the labor market, career-development in the wake of technological changes, and the future of labor unions in light of cultural and legal developments. In addition to these presentations, each union participating in the conference gave a report on the key developments on the labor markets in their respective countries.

The conference was very succesful and gave people the oppurtunity to learn from one another and share insights. Next year, The Nordic Capital Conference for Commercial Unions will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark.
