VR buys 4 new holiday homes in the Highlands of Akureyri

On 27 January the VR board approved the purchase of four new holiday houses in the popular area of Hálönd by Akureyri in the North of Iceland.

VR already owns four houses in the area, which is located by Hlíðarfjallsvegur, approx. halfway between the ski resort and the town of Akureyri. The houses are 108sqm and have three bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room and kitchen. There is a hot tub in every house. From the start the houses at Hálönd have been very popular and have had the best booking of all VR houses.

In the Highlands, there are already 52 holiday homes run by the company SS Byggis ehf. The company is starting construction in the third phase in the area and there are already 15 houses under construction that will be taken into use in the first half of 2022 and VR has four houses available from those. In total, this is an investment of around ISK 200 million, which includes everything needed to get a house ready for rent, such as all equipment, appliances and furniture.

In Akureyri VR already owns 7 holiday apartments at Furulundur, one at Dalsgerði and 3 at Skipagata.
