The Icelandic Confederation of Labour conducted a workplace inspection initiative in the tourism sector from June 23rd to 25th, which took place at Geysir, Þingvellir, and Gullfoss in the south of Iceland. Participating in the initiative alongside the confederation were the South Iceland Police, the Administration of Occupational Safety and Health, and the Directorate of Internal Revenue. The focus was primarily on tourism companies.

VR, the Commercial Federation of Iceland (LÍV), and the Federation of Trade and Services (SVÞ) have joined forces to promote increased safety for retail workers in Iceland. Both retail employees and employers have expressed growing concern over rising violence and harassment in the workplace. Representatives from all three parties signed a memorandum of understanding today, Sept. 16, which lays the groundwork for continued cooperation in this area.
