Registration Opens for the Blær Waitlist
Registration for VR members on the waitlist for Blær rental apartments has opened. It is possible to register on the list until June 16th on My Pages at vr.is. Blær is a housing foundation managed by VR, offering rental apartments for members at Silfratjörn in Úlfarsárdal.
The current registration is a pre-registration for the first allocation of apartments this fall. It does not matter when members register between April 16th and June 16th; people will be assigned spaces on the list in random order. A total of 36 rental apartments are available this time exclusively for VR members. The first allocation is scheduled for September, with apartments being handed over by the end of 2024.
Pre-Registration for First Allocation
VR members who want to apply for an apartment in the first allocation in the fall of 2024 need to pre-register on the waiting list and pay an annual fee of ISK 2,900. When registration closes on June 16th, placement on the waiting list will be randomized, and VR members who registered will be assigned a number according to that order. The lower the number, the higher the placement on the list. All registered members have an equal chance of ranking high on the list.
Apartment Allocation Fall 2024
Members on the waiting list will receive an email with information about the apartments as the application process approaches. Those with the lowest numbers, thus at the top of the list, will have priority in the allocation. The application period for apartments is from July 1st to September 6th, 2024, and the handover of apartments is scheduled for the end of 2024. All members can register on the waiting list, but applicants must meet certain criteria to be allocated an apartment. Applicants must be 21 years old at the time of allocation, have been a member of VR for two years, and must not have owned property for five years before allocation. There are also specific conditions regarding family size, pet ownership, etc.
The size and layout of the apartments on offer this fall and the rental price will be announced closer to the application process itself.
Registration on the General Waiting List
After the pre-registration closes on June 16th, registration for the general waiting list opens with a "first-come, first-served" arrangement. Members are assigned a number on the list in the order their application is received. All members on the waiting list will receive information about the apartments as they become available, but those at the top of the list with the lowest number will always have priority in the application process, provided they meet the conditions for allocation.
