Recently, RÚV chose the third shift as the word of the year 2022 at RÚV´s cultural awards. The word of the year is elected by RÚV´s readers. The results were quite decisive, but the third shift received a third of the votes in an online election, or twice as many votes as the words that followed.

VR and Icelandic building company ÍAV have signed a cooperation agreement for the development and construction of rental apartments on VR's constuction site in Úlfarsárdalur. A total of 36 apartments will be built in two apartment buildings for rent by VR members.

The termination of VR´s shop steward at Efling union in April of last year was illegal according to the Icelandic Labour Court, which handed down its judgement yesterday, 3 January, 2023. VR welcomes the court‘s judgement which better clarifies the position of shop stewards.

Voting among VR members on the newly concluded collective agreements with the Confederation of Icelandic Employers (SA) and The Icelandic Federation of Trade (FA) has has ended. The results of the voting will be made public after a meeting of the VR Election Committee.
The results of the voting among members of VR on the newly concluded collective agreements with the Confederation of Icelandic Employers (SA) and The Icelandic Federation of Trade (FA) are now available.

At 8:30am this morning, Tuesday, December 20, 2022, 8243 VR members had voted in the union‘s online general vote on the newly concluded collective agreements, which is a 21% voter turnout.
