VR´s Annual General Meeting
VR's Annual General Meeting was held on Tuesday, June 9, 2020. The board’s annual report was read and the annual accounts submitted for approval. VR’s earnings increase by ISK 552 million from the year before, with operating revenues totaling ISK 4.5 billion and operating expenses at ISK 4.7 billion and revenues at the disposal of ISK 927 million.
Remember your wages should increase in next month‘s wage payment
According to VR´s collective agreements, wage increases took effect from April 1st. For those who are paid according to the VR pay scales the increase is 24.000 ISK pr. month while general wages shall increase by 18.000 ISK
VRs holiday cottages and rental apartments will be closed until the end of ban on gatherings
Due to the recommendations from the Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management (Almannavarnir), VR will close all the union´s holiday cottages and rental apartments until the ban on gatherings has been lifted on May 4th. Bookings will reopen on May 5th.
Annual deposit into the VR Contingency fund is temporarily suspended

VR‘s reception closed due to COVID-19
The reception of VR union will be closed from Monday, March 16. The Icelandic authorities have declared the highest alert level as a result of COVID-19, an emergency phase, and VR will only offer members services remotely. This is done in the interest of members‘ wellbeing.

The Icelandic authorities have issued a ban on mass gatherings, of 100 people or more, as of Monday March 16 for a period of four weeks. The ban also stipulates that people maintain a certain distance from one another.

The Icelandic authorities have declared an emergency phase because of COVID-19 and VR encourages it‘s members to use the webpage vr.is, email firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone rather than visit our offices. Most of VR‘s services can be accessed via the webpage but members in dire need are welcome to our offices.
Trilateral agreement on responses to COVID-19
The Government of Iceland, the Confederation of Icelandic Employers (SA) and Icelandic Confederation of Labour (ASÍ) have reached a trilateral agreement on actions to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Iceland by ensuring that individuals are able to comply with the instructions of the authorities to quarantine themselves without having to worry about their income.
Elections to the VR board for the term 2020 – 2022
VR will hold a secret ballot to elect seven board members for VR, according to the laws of VR. The voting will begin today at 9:00 am 9th March 2020 and will end at 12:00 noon on 13th March 2020.
