A general vote among VR members for the election of the chairman and the Board of VR, cf. Article 20 the union's law, starts at 9.00am Wednesday 8 March and ends at 12 noon on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

Candidates for position of chairman and to the Board of VR for the term 2023 - 2025 will introduce themselves and their main issues and focus in a VR union meeting, which will be held at the Grand Hotel Reykjavik, March 7, 2023 at 7:30pm.

VR members can now schedule an appointment with an expert from KPMG and receive assistance with their tax return. This assistance is available on 7 and 8 March from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Each appointment is 15 minutes. Registration closes at 15:00 on 6 March.

VR would like to point out that employers are not permitted to request that VR's members take on the work of Efling's members during a strike. We encourage VR members to respect the right to strike.

VR has agreed a grant of 6 million ISK to the Pieta Association for research on suicides in Iceland. The concequences of suicides and suicide attempts are not limited to the physical injury or death of the individuals involved. Suicidal behavior inevitably also has serious mental, social and even physical effects on friends and family, and such effects can last for years or even decades.

Companies can offer participation to employees who are not members of VR and thus ensure that all employees, regardless of union membership, have the opportunity to participate and express their views on management and the working environment

Recently, RÚV chose the third shift as the word of the year 2022 at RÚV´s cultural awards. The word of the year is elected by RÚV´s readers. The results were quite decisive, but the third shift received a third of the votes in an online election, or twice as many votes as the words that followed.
