VR supports charity organizations during the holidays
As we have done in recent years, VR supports the work of various charity organizations during the holidays. This year it was decided to support the National Church's Relief Work by 2,350,000 ISK and the Icelandic Red Cross by 2,100,000 ISK.
Bookings holiday cottages unavailable today
Please be informed that booking holiday cottages will be unavailable today, Thursday, December 7th from 13:00 due to an update. Booking will reopen tomorrow at 12:00.
Changed submission deadline for fund applications
VR members, please take note that due to the holidays, applications for grants from, the VR Sick Pay Fund, VR Contingency Fund and the Vocational Training Funds, must be submitted no later than Wednesday 13 December in order for you to receive payment of grants before the end of the year.

New allocation rules for holiday cottages 2024
The allocation of VR holiday cottages in the summer of 2024 will be different from previous years and the application period will be extended.
Remember your December Allowance!
December supplement according to VR's agreements are ISK 103,000 for the year 2023.
The loss of income for parents can run into the millions
The loss of income for parents of young children due to maternity leave and childcare gaps easily runs into the millions according to a new analysis by VR, which was presented at a large breakfast meeting today, Thursday, November 23. The meeting focused on the situation of parents of young children and the interaction between preschools and the labor market.

Violence and harassment widespread issue in the workplace
More than half of VR members have experienced violence or harassment in the workplace sometime during their career, or 54%. The share is even higher among VR members who do not speak Icelandic, or 60%, and highest among women aged 25-34 years, or 67%.
VR Christmas Ball
On Saturday, 2 December, VR hosts a Christmas Ball starting at 1 pm in Flói hall at Harpa. The theater group Lotta will be in charge of the entertainment and there will be dancing around the Christmas tree.
VR lends holiday homes to residents of Grindavík
The government approached VR and other trade unions to lend holiday homes and apartments to the residents of Grindavík who had to evacuate the town this weekend due to sesmic activity and the possibility of an eruption.
