According to Article 20. of VR’s laws the union’s Election Committee advertises for individual candidacies for the position of chairman and for the union's Board and for electoral lists to VR's Consultative Council.

The deadline for submitting candidacy is at 12:00 noon, Monday, 6 February 2023.

The Election Committee advertises for individual candidacies for the position of chairman, for seven seats on the board and three alternates. The written endorsement of 50 VR members is required for individual candidacy for the position of Chairman and 15 is required for individual candidacy to the Board.

The Election Committee also advertises for a list of candidates for 41 seats on the Consultative Council. In order for a list to the Consultative Council, presented against the list of the List Composition Committee, to be legally presented, the written endorsement of 300 VR members is required as well as the written consent of the candidates on the list.

Please note that it is not permitted to be up for election for both the list election for the Consultative Council and the individual elections to chairman or the Board of VR.

Candidates are directed to www.vr.is, where nomination forms are available and more detailed information is published on candidacy for chairman, the Board and VR’s Consultative Council.
